Political analyst Sumner Sambo has described the recent pronouncements from Rotimi Amaechi and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a deliberate strategy of “political distraction” designed to confuse the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Arise News from 4:06, Sambo argued that the ADC leaders have agreed to deploy various tactics to obscure their true intentions and keep the APC’s election planning committee off balance. He suggested that Amaechi is being used by certain elements within the coalition to divert attention and create multiple fronts for the APC to worry about.
This “chess game,” as Sambo called it, aims to test President Tinubu’s credentials as a master strategist by presenting a fluid and unpredictable opposition, making it difficult for the ruling party to focus its resources on a single opponent.
In his words: “I will just start from Rotimi Amaechi’s talks, and I would just regard it as political distraction. I think they’ve started playing a game against Tinubu, a chess game that Tinubu himself may be confused if he’s not careful. What I see here are people who have devised several tendencies to obfuscate the realities that his team may actually be planning towards at the moment. I think that Rotimi Amaechi is being sent by certain people within the ADC to distract him.”
