In a recent interview with The Sun on Sunday, October 26, 2025, According to Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has revealed how he taught several prominent Nigerian politicians who now serve in the National Assembly.
Sulaiman, who once served as a minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan, revealed that he was privileged to have taught several prominent Nigerian politicians, including the former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, as well as Senators Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Biodun Olujimi, among others. “I was privileged to teach the former governor of Kogi State, Ibraham Idris, Senators Natasha and Olujimi and a host of others.”
He disclosed that he currently has five of his former students serving in the 10th Senate, all of whom he mentored during his time as a part-time lecturer.
“I taught all these senators when I was a part-time lecturer and not getting a dime as remuneration,” Sulaiman stated, reflecting on his years of dedication to teaching without financial reward.
The NILDS Director-General noted that his experience as both an academic and a public servant has strengthened his commitment to developing effective legislative and democratic systems in Nigeria. View, More,
