The victim has recounted how he narrowly escaped a violent robbery and kidnap attempt in Abuja after unknowingly boarding a “one-chance” taxi operated by kidnappers.

Speaking during an interview with The Lucky Udu Experience, the victim said, “I strongly believed that the guy was the driver’s son. He was the one that brought out a knife and started stabbing me on the back.”

“He even tried to slit my throat, but I struggled with them.”

The kidnappers, he explained, became more aggressive as he fought back.

According to him, while they were driving, his resistance escalated into a physical struggle. “With the way I was fighting with them, my elbow mistakenly broke the window glass. So they stopped. When they stopped, they pushed me down and started beating me.”

The victim revealed that he took a drastic step to protect his finances.

“The moment we stopped, I smashed my phone on the ground. I did it intentionally so they would not get access to my Opay account, because my whole house rent was inside my Opay. So I had to smash the phone on the floor.”

His actions seemed to infuriate the kidnappers further.

“That was when they started beating and pushing me. The other man brought out a cutlass and hit me with it. I was shouting.”

Fortunately, help arrived in time.

“Another vehicle made a stop and dropped a passenger. They noticed the scene and came to rescue me. The kidnappers fled the scene when the rescuers came.”
