Desmond Elliot has shared how he got into politics and how much effort he put into reaching out to former Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Seun Oloketuyi from 8:53, Elliot said before he made the decision to go into politics, he always felt like something was missing in his life. He said when he joined politics, he sent several messages and emails to Fashola. He joked that Fashola must have received over three million of his messages and that he even disturbed the governor’s ADC (aide-de-camp) with calls and texts. He said at first he thought Fashola wasn’t seeing the messages because he never got a reply.

However, Elliot said one day he met Fashola in Benin and walked up to him. He said to his surprise, Fashola told him “Desmond, I have been seeing your messages.” Elliot said they sat down and talked, and Fashola gave him some words of encouragement. He also said on that same day he met Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the first time formally.

In Elliot’s words: “Governor Fashola got more than 3 million of my messages and emails, I disturbed the hell out of his ADC’s life. The truth is that I actually thought he was not seeing them because there were no response to the messages until one day I met him in Benin. I went close to him and he said ‘Desmond, I have been seeing your messages” and I said really Sir. I sat close to him and we talked about it, he said well okay keep trying. That same day was the day I met Asiwaju formally”
