Victory, a 27-year-old survivor of sexual assault, gives a harrowing account of the night she was raped at age seven by Awele. The assault occurred after her guardian was rushed to the hospital, leaving Victory alone in the house with him under the guise of his care.
On the Lucky Udu Experience, she describes the sequence of events with chilling clarity: being sent to buy his usual cigarettes and drink, noticing he was naked behind the kitchen door upon her return, and being dragged and pinned down when she tried to retreat to her room. She recounts his threat to “slice her throat” if she screamed, a threat made more terrifying by her knowledge that he was a cultist.
She said, “They told me to stay with Awele, that he would take care of me and take me to school the next day. I noticed he was naked behind the kitchen door. He told me that if I should go out, he would lock me outside. I was too late. Before I could move a step, he dragged me, pinned me down, and told me that if I should scream, he was going to slice my throat. Awele is a cultist and was a Yahoo boy. I was scared. I kept quiet. Then he laid me down on a red rug and did whatever he was doing. I felt pain, but I held it inside. When he was done, I knew he penetrated because I touched the rug and I felt blood, but you wouldn’t know because the rug was red.
