In a recent video on Channels Television, former Head of Service of Rivers State, Dr. George Nweke, has urged key stakeholders who have criticized the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State to reconsider their stance. He stated that many of those condemning the decision were doing so out of ignorance and lack of access to sensitive information about the events that unfolded within the state’s political leadership.
Nweke stressed that if stakeholders were fully aware of the sinister activities and destructive plans that had been set in motion before the federal intervention, they would commend President Bola Tinubu for taking timely and decisive action. He argued that the intervention helped avert a potential political and economic crisis that could have escalated beyond Rivers State and affected national stability.
The former Head of Service expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the National Assembly for approving the six-month state of emergency. He also urged the President not to relent in keeping a close watch on developments in the state, noting that, according to him, troubling events are still taking place under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration.
Nweke further disclosed that one of the underlying reasons behind his resignation and removal from office was a disturbing conversation he had with the Governor. He alleged that Governor Fubara had revealed plans to manipulate the outcome of Nigeria’s next presidential election using influence over the judiciary. He added that the Governor boasted of controlling Rivers State while his brother had similar influence in Bayelsa State, along with control over vital oil pipelines.
According to him, “I want to advise key stakeholders who have condemned the declaration of the state of emergency to retract their statements. They are speaking from a place of ignorance. If they had knowledge of the events, they would commend Mr. President. No one knows who would have suffered from the sinister plans that were underway if proactive steps were not taken.”
“I thank Mr. President for declaring the state of emergency in Rivers State for six months. I plead with him not to relent in his interest in Rivers State because a lot is still happening under Governor Fubara’s watch.”

“One of the factors that led to my removal was when Governor Fubara told me they would use judges to decide who becomes the next President of Nigeria. I asked how that would work—by votes or by what means? I was worried. He also stated that he was in control of Rivers State and that his brother controlled Bayelsa State, with all the pipelines under their watch. He claimed that at the right time, they would instruct the boys on what to do, and funding was not an issue. You can click the button below for more news.
