Lucky Okoro’s act of kindness did not end with the return of the ₦4 million. The Keke driver went above and beyond, taking responsibility for the well-being of the distraught widow, who was in a state of shock and at risk of being attacked. He ensured she was taken to a safe place before he would leave her.
In his interview on the Lucky Udu Experience, Okoro recounted how, after returning the money, a bystander warned him that the large amount of cash had created a dangerous situation. Fearing for the woman’s safety, Okoro put her and the money back in his Keke, refused her request to go back to the market, and instead took her to a different hotel where she could recover from her ordeal.
He even took ₦10,000 from her money to pay for the hotel room, ensuring she had a safe place to rest and calm her nerves. This extended act of compassion shows that Okoro’s actions were motivated by a genuine concern for the woman’s welfare, not just a sense of duty to return her property.
He said, “When I reached the hotel, I took ₦10,000 from her money, paid for the hotel, so that, ‘Madam, relax here, cool you down,’ because her BP had risen. The woman was maybe about 60 or something years. An old woman. So I said, ‘Relax here. Tomorrow, you continue your journey. Take my number. If you buy your goods and you finish, you can call me. I’ll come and carry you, put you to the park, and you go your way.
