Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has debunked claims that he boasted of delivering his local government to the All Progressives Congress in the last election.

Speaking during a live interview on TVC News, the former Rivers State governor firmly rejected the allegation, insisting his words had been misrepresented.

Responding to a journalist who put the question to him, Wike said, “I never said here that my local government is APC. I never said so. I said your media house, all of you always say Wike cannot influence what happens in other local government, he can only influence what happens in his own local government.”

Wike stressed that his comments were directed at media narratives, particularly those pushed by Arise Television, AIT, and Channels Television, which often downplayed his political influence beyond his immediate base. He clarified that his statement was not an endorsement of APC, nor a claim of delivering victory for the ruling party in his area.

According to the minister, his role in the Peoples Democratic Party remains clear, and his political standing in Rivers State is backed by his record of securing wins in his constituency. He accused some journalists of twisting his words to fit preconceived narratives, warning that such practices mislead the public.

Wike noted that the live nature of the TVC interview was an advantage, as Nigerians could hear his words directly without distortion.

His rebuttal comes amid heightened political debates in Rivers State, where tensions between PDP factions and alignments with the APC continue to dominate the political landscape.
