The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement has alleged that young people who previously engaged in electoral fraud against Peter Obi during the 2023 election are now supporting the former Labour Party presidential candidate.

Yunusa Tanko speaking during an interview with Arise TV from 16:00, argued hat Obi’s appeal has expanded significantly across northern Nigeria despite critics questioning his influence in the region. “Peter Obi’s strongest tool is the Nigerian people. He’s the only candidate today who can deliver a block vote of Nigerians without hesitation. He remains unchallenged in that regard,” Tanko stated, emphasizing what he sees as Obi’s unique political appeal.

The movement coordinator directly addressed criticisms about Obi’s northern support base. “People say he lacks influence in the North. I just returned from Jigawa State, and I met fantastic youths—many of whom were previously used for ballot snatching against Peter Obi in 2023,” he claimed.

Tanko highlighted the organizational growth of the Obidient Movement across Nigeria’s states. “The Obidient Movement, which is the political machine behind Obi’s narrative, has built 34 out of 37 structures within one year. Today marks one year since I became leader of the Obidient Movement. All these people believe in Obi,” he declared.

The coordinator argued that Obi’s support has become more visible across different regions. “What you didn’t see before, you’re seeing now. They’re expanding into wards and local governments. Go to Maiduguri—you’ll see them. Go to Kano—you’ll see them,” he said.
