Former Governor of Anambra State, Chris Ngige, has stated that when he left office, there were no outstanding gratuities or unpaid salaries in the state. He said he left a total of ₦13.8 billion in Anambra State’s accounts for his successor former Governor Peter Obi.

In an interview with Signature TV, Ngige said the money was kept in various banks, including Fidelity Bank, where Obi held a stake. He further stated that the ₦13.8 billion he left behind was equivalent to about 172 million dollars at the time. He said Obi should be man enough to admit this fact.

In Ngige’s words: “I left, in all the accounts of Anambra State, 13.8 billion for Obi. So how is it a messy situation? I had infrastructural account for my roads, water supply and everything there, I kept them in different pockets where we have our accounts. We have account in Fidelity Bank, which is even Obi’s Bank: it was then Guardian Express. We had the other in Akingbola’s bank. And if you go to they Guardian Express you will see Security Account written boldly, my security vote. I was the only governor doing that. I told my PS and SSG, those managing the account, to label it Security Vote so people can ask you people what we are doing with this money.
