Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Edwin Clark, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian who dedicated his life to justice and the unity of the country.
In a video released by Symfoni on their YouTube channel, El-Rufai expressed his deep respect for the elder statesman, emphasising his pivotal role in stabilising Nigeria during critical moments in its history.
The words of El-Rufai read, “I was very happy when this opportunity presented itself for us to be here. Chief Edwin Clark was not just an Ijaw leader; he was a father to all of us. I first met him when I returned from exile; at the time, former President Jonathan was the acting president, and all persons of goodwill were looking for solutions to stabilise the country, and the chief called me and others, and by the grace of God, the country was stabilised.
Regarding the position held by Clark, he stated that, “but today we can only celebrate the contributions of Chief, and those of us old enough know that he was a federal commissioner then, a portfolio that is today known as minister of education based on what he did at the state level.
He further stated that, “He is a distinguished Nigerian who fought for justice for everyone. He was vocal and courageous in his convictions, and he never kept quiet when he saw injustice anywhere. To Chief, an injustice to one is an injustice to all.
