Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno State, has alleged that the Nigerian military is not receiving funding on time, forcing top officers to seek approvals that should ordinarily be automatic.

Speaking during an interview from 29:42 on Channels TV, Ndume criticised the funding process, saying delays were affecting operations and welfare within the armed forces. According to him, “I do not see why the service chiefs should be going to the Minister of Finance to ask for their allocation. They are not given their allocations at the right time. I was so angry last time to discover that even the February salary of the soldiers was paid in March,” he said.

He warned that such lapses go beyond administrative issues, noting that failure to meet security expectations could lead to growing frustration among citizens.

Ndume stressed that insecurity affects everyone, regardless of political or ethnic background, as violence does not discriminate.
