In a candid interview on Arise TV from 4:24, the convener of the League of Northern Democrats, Dr Umar Ardo acknowledged that ethnicity is an inherent aspect of identity that cannot be altered and emphasized the need to move beyond ethnic divisions to address issues that can be changed through collective action.

He underscored the importance of inclusivity within the Northern region, highlighting the diversity of its population, which includes Muslims, Christians, Fulanis, and other groups.

Ardo explained that the League of Northern Democrats has sought to bring together the best representatives from these various communities to work towards shared goals and overcome regional challenges.

His statement promotes unity in diversity and encourages Northerners to set aside their differences to focus on improving their collective welfare and fostering peaceful coexistence.

According to Umar Ardo, “Ethnicity is a natural phenomenon. I didn’t make myself a Fulani man, I cannot change myself. So, if we are fighting, then we will fight for ever. Let us fight what we can change. In our focus, we have brought in every side of the Northern Nigeria. We have the Muslims, we have the Christians, we have the Fulanis, we have every group. What we did is to bring our best.”….VìêwMorê
