Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has praised the people of the Southeast region for heeding his appeal not to join the ongoing nationwide protests against bad governance that began on August 1st.
In a statement released on his Instagram handle on Friday, Governor Uzodinma expressed his gratitude to the South Eastern people for their wisdom in recognising the potential dangers associated with the protests.
He emphasised that while peaceful protest is undoubtedly a right of the people, their decision to prioritise safety and stability showcases great prudence.
The governor also criticised those who he believes contributed to the current economic challenges, suggesting that they are now sponsoring the protests instead of working with the federal government for a resolution.
He attributed this reaction to the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is courageous enough to dismantle the entrenched cabal exploiting the nation’s common resources.
Governor Uzodinma expressed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, stating that he deserves the nation’s support as he works towards a more prosperous future.
He called for unity in this mission and emphasised that dialogue remains the best path to achieving the people’s demands.
Hope Uzodinma’s statement read in part, “I commend our people of the South Eastern region for heeding our appeal not to join the nationwide protest.
