Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has clarified that he has no plans to withdraw from the race or lobby for the vice-presidential position in Nigeria’s political landscape. Speaking on the matter, Mohammed stated, “There is no plan for me to be vice president.

The presidential candidate should be free to choose a running mate. I will support whoever emerges, but I am not withdrawing to lobby for vice presidency.”

His comments come amid ongoing discussions within the PDP about leadership positioning for the 2027 elections. Mohammed emphasized that his focus is on supporting the party’s unity and consensus-building efforts. “I support the party’s decisions and believe that leadership recruitment should be based on collective agreement rather than individual ambitions,” he said.

Mohammed’s stance underscores his commitment to party cohesion and the belief that the choice of running mate is solely at the discretion of the presidential candidate, and not something he is actively campaigning for.

In his words: “There is no plan for me to be vice president. The presidential candidate should be free to choose a running mate. I will support whoever emerges, but I am not withdrawing in order to lobby for vice presidency.”
