Renowned journalist and politician, Dele Momodu has revealed that nearly all members who attended the formation of a new political coalition have aligned themselves with the African Democratic Congress.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Momodu disclosed that 99.9% of the attendees have pledged full membership of the ADC, positioning the party as a unifying platform for Nigeria’s opposition forces.

“I can tell you that 99.9 percent have pledged to be members of ADC,” Momodu said. “They will have to collapse their structure for the coalition to work. That’s why they are there.”

He emphasized that the coalition is not symbolic but a serious political movement with a clear objective to offer a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

When asked about the involvement of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Momodu expressed confidence in his commitment to the coalition, describing him as a focused leader who is not interested in wasting time.

“Peter Obi is not a time waster,” he noted. “He understands what is at stake, and I believe he and his team will eventually collapse their structure into this coalition.”

Momodu’s remarks come amid widespread political realignments and growing frustration with the APC government over economic hardship, insecurity, and perceived authoritarianism.

Political analysts say the ADC-led coalition may become a formidable third force ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially with prominent figures and parties pledging allegiance to a united front.

The coalition’s momentum, fueled by the mass defection of key political actors, may signal a new era in Nigeria’s democratic process as opposition leaders strive to speak with one voice.
