Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse has firmly stated that he will never work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the Nigerian leader as a “man of ill-repute.” Pearse made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television, where he addressed rumors suggesting his potential involvement with the Labour Party.
“I’m working for the PDP. Nigeria doesn’t deserve a terrible president like Tinubu,” Pearse said, distancing himself from any affiliation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or the presidency. He further stated that “I Can Never Work for Tinubu, He’s a Man of Ill-Repute. The reason these allegations are gaining traction is because some members of the Labour Party want me and the PDP to come into their party”
Responding to speculation about political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, Pearse claimed that some members of the Labour Party were attempting to draw both him and other PDP figures into their ranks. He insisted that such efforts were baseless and dismissed the idea of abandoning his party.
He also disagreed with former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s recent assertion that forming a coalition was the only path to defeating President Tinubu in the next election.
“Atiku is wrong to think a coalition is the only answer to defeating President Tinubu in 2027,” Pearse said, arguing instead for a stronger, restructured PDP that could challenge the current administration on its own merit.
The full interview with Dr. Pearse, where he outlines his position on party loyalty, opposition strategy, and the current state of Nigerian politics, is available via Arise Television’s X handle.
Pearse’s comments is said to have added to the ongoing conversation around opposition unity, political strategy, and the future of governance in Nigeria, as the country gears up for what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 election.
