At the 60th birthday celebration of PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, once again demonstrated his characteristic bluntness and political tenacity. Speaking at the event, Wike recalled a conversation he had with Anyanwu during a critical political period, where he warned him of the stormy road ahead if he chose to contest.
In a video posted by AIT, Wike described the pressures and opposition Anyanwu faced, especially from some governors within the party. Wike stated that he felt a responsibility to prepare the senator mentally for the scale of the challenge, reminding him that political survival would require not just ambition, but courage and resolve.
According to him, “I called him; I said, ‘Senator, let me warn you: if you know you can’t stand firm, say it now, because as the landlord of this place, I’ll invoke the wrath of the gods of this land if you do anything contrary.'” To be a landlord, is it by mouth? I’m the only one who can pour libation here. So I told him, Are you sure you can stand this war? You can stand this fight? Fight where virtually everybody, governors are fighting you; it’s not easy. But if you stand firm, you’ll win.”
