Senator Ali Ndume has expressed his frustration over his inability to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking during a television interview from 17:13, Ndume said it has become very difficult for lawmakers and even senior government officials to have direct access to the president. He explained that the only way to meet Tinubu is often by rushing to public events where the president is expected to appear, hoping to get his attention briefly.
Ndume, who represents Borno South in the Senate, said this situation shows how disconnected the government has become from ordinary people and even from some of its own members. He complained that some individuals around the president act as gatekeepers, blocking others from getting close unless money or personal favors are involved.
The senator described the current system as one dominated by a small group of privileged people who only care about their own interests. According to him, these powerful individuals are more focused on wealth and influence than on solving the real problems facing Nigerians.
Ndume added that he had officially written to request a meeting with the president to discuss important national issues but was ignored. He said it feels like trying to see the president is as hard as trying to get into heaven.
In his words, “I wrote to them, I asked them I want to see the president to discuss some national issues, then they’ll be playing games as if you’re going to heaven.” View, More,
