Honourable Jude Idimogu, a former Lagos State lawmaker has lend his voice to calls for former Anambra State governor and erstwhile Labour Party presidential flag-bearer, Peter Obi to shelve his 2027 presidential ambitions. According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD, he pointed out that Peter Obi should support the president as both leaders were from the south.

The former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi had been urged to shelve his 2027 presidential ambitions and support the incumbent president.

The call was made by a renowned former Lagos State lawmaker, honourable Jude Idimogu who addressed journalists in the state on Sunday. He equally disclosed the reasons why he made the appeal.

According to his statements which were made available to the general public by VANGUARD on Monday July 28th, 2025, he pointed out that both leaders were from the south, hence, the opposition was unnecessary.

“I strongly agree with the appeal to Obi. He should support Tinubu as both leaders are from the South.” He said.

Speaking further, Jude Idimogu pointed out that a southern candidate should not disrupt the balance as it was still the turn of the south to be president of the country.

“This is the South’s turn. Let’s not allow another Southern candidate to disrupt the zoning and help Northern interests.” He added.

The statements from the lawmaker however, stirred mixed reactions from the general public, especially from the Obidient movement as they believed his remarks lacked credibility and merit.
