Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, recently visited a property in Lagos that belonged to a company his brother partly owns. The building was demolished under controversial circumstances, and Obi was left shocked by what he discovered at the site.

In a video shared by Channels Television from 6.37, according to Obi, when he arrived, he asked those responsible for the demolition who gave the order. They claimed they had a court injunction from the person claiming to own the land. But when Obi asked who that owner was, they couldn’t give a name. “How can you sue an unknown person and say the land belongs to you?” Obi asked.

He was shown a court document that listed the defendant simply as “unknown person.” Yet, based on that, the building was destroyed within a day. Obi questioned why no proper demolition order was presented. “Even if you want to demolish a house, the state government should issue a proper order, with safety measures in place,” he said.

Obi waited at the site for four hours, hoping to meet the so-called owner, but no one showed up. Only two people came and said they were “acting on behalf” of someone—but still, they refused to name the real owner.

“I’m Peter Obi, and I’m standing here asking, who is this unknown person claiming this land?” he said. “This land belongs to a company, and my brother is the major shareholder. The country cannot continue like this.”

Obi described the situation as lawless and called it “rascality.”
