Former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, addressed perceptions of him as a political “godfather,” dismissing claims that he holds such influence. He refuted suggestions that he is a miracle-maker or solely responsible for anyone’s rise to governorship, emphasizing that no human should attribute such power to themselves. Reflecting on his own political journey, Oshiomhole recalled how many doubted his chances of becoming governor, yet he succeeded by the grace of God.

He reiterated that his victories and successes are not of his own making but are the result of divine intervention. According to Oshiomhole, it is misguided for anyone to believe they are the sole architects of their achievements, as ultimate authority rests with God, who determines the outcome of all plans.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 9:34, “People are trying to demonize me and make me out to be the ‘Godfather,’ calling me a miracle-making god. How can anybody born of a woman describe himself as a miracle or a governorship maker?”People forget that even I myself, I was not supposed to be governor. Many had written me off before the election, said it was impossible for me to become a governor. But by the grace of God, I became governor.

So if someone has made himself a governor and now claims he is the one behind the election, it is either he is foolish or has no understanding of the power of God. I want to say it again. It is not about me, it’s about God. Every victory I have achieved, every success I’ve enjoyed, it is because of His grace. I don’t believe anyone can claim to have made themselves something, because we all know that man’s plans can fail. God is the ultimate decider.”
