Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries, recently shared a testimony of a pastor who unknowingly spent 30 years in stagnation due to a spiritual covenant he made with his mother before her death.
During his sermon, Suleman referenced Genesis 45:22, where Joseph gave Benjamin 300 pieces of silver and 500 changes of raiment, emphasizing the significance of divine favor. He then recounted the story of a pastor from Sapele, Delta State, who labored in ministry for three decades without progress.
Despite raising successful spiritual sons, including a prominent Lagos-based minister, the pastor remained in a struggling church with only 20 members. His children could not afford education, and his life was marked by hardship.
One day, his spiritual son, now a well-established minister, visited him and was shocked to find his mentor still in the same condition. He invited the pastor to Lagos to minister, offering him new clothes for the trip. When the pastor preached, the congregation was overwhelmed by the anointing upon him, leaving his spiritual son in awe of the grace he carried.
That night, in his son’s guest room, the pastor’s hidden bondage was revealed. The young minister awoke to find a tortoise lying between them. Shocked, he realized the tortoise symbolized slow progress, linked to a covenant the pastor’s mother had made before her death. She had entrusted the tortoise to “take care” of her son.
Through fervent prayers, deliverance came. The pastor returned to Sapele, and within months, his life transformed—he acquired land, built a thriving church, received cars as gifts, and his children resumed schooling. A year later, he was preaching on television.
