According to DAILY POST, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised Ifeanyi Okowa, the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike welcomed their decision, saying it showed support for President Bola Tinubu.
Okowa and Oborevwori officially switched from the PDP to the APC on Wednesday. Oborevwori publicly resigned from the PDP and joined the APC after a meeting with PDP leaders in Delta State.
At a press conference in Asaba, Delta State Commissioner for Information Charles Aniagwu announced that the entire PDP structure in the state had also joined the APC.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will formally welcome Oborevwori and the PDP family into the APC next Monday in Asaba.
Furthermore,Wike praised their move, saying it was a sign of their support for Tinubu’s leadership. He also urged other Nigerians who have not decided to support the President to do so.
Wike described Okowa’s and Oborevwori’s support for Tinubu as a clear sign of their belief in his leadership and commitment to the country’s development.
He described it as a confirmation of his position during the 2023 elections, which focused on the unity of Nigeria. He congratulated both leaders for making the right choice at the right time, showing their support for the President so that the Niger Delta region can benefit more from the government.
