The mother of a slain National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ibrahim Haruna Abdulkareem, has expressed deep anguish over the killing of her son, describing his death as a devastating blow to the family’s survival.

Zainab Hassan, speaking during an interview on Trust TV from 1:37, recounted the tragic loss of her 31-year-old son, who was killed during a reprisal attack in Anguwan Rukuba. Abdulkareem, she said, was the family’s breadwinner and had taken on major responsibilities following the death of his father.

In her emotional account, Hassan said, “He was my first son and the only graduate in the family. Since his father died, he has been the one taking care of us. I struggled to take care of his education so he could support the family. After all my efforts, he was killed for no reason.”

The grieving mother explained that her son’s death has left the family in a state of uncertainty, as he was their primary source of financial and emotional support. She emphasized the sacrifices made to ensure his education, hoping he would uplift the family from hardship.

Abdulkareem’s killing occurred amid ongoing tensions that have led to violent reprisals in parts of Plateau State, raising concerns about the safety of residents and corps members posted to volatile areas.
