Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has criticized former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai over the performance of the PDP during the 2023 Senatorial elections in the state.
During an interview with AIT from 36:02, Galadima argued that despite the fact that El-Rufai was in office as an APC governor at the time, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured all three senatorial seats in the state.
Galadima questioned the former governor’s political influence, especially now that he is no longer in office and is openly opposing the current state governor, Senator Uba Sani. He cast doubt on the former governor’s ability to attract significant voter support under these circumstances in 2027 general elections.
He said the SDP which El-Rufai recently joined, is essentially a faction that broke away from the PDP, adding that the ongoing developments are merely weakening the PDP.
He said, “Is it not a breakaway of the PDP? They are only dismantling the PDP. It is only El-Rufai alone that came from the APC. He (El-Rufai) was a sitting governor in Kaduna when the PDP won all three senatorial elections. That is as a sitting governor; now that he is out and even fighting the governor from outside, how many votes do you think he can win?”
