Jerry Omotshegunwa, Special Adviser on Electronic Media to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, recently addressed the political crisis between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, despite efforts at a peace settlement.
In a live coverage by News Central TV from 21:30, Jerry said a peace pact was organized in the presence of President Bola Tinubu to address the conflicts between the two camps. He said that former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili, who read the peace pact’s terms to the group did not sign it because he wasn’t okay with the terms.
Jerry said that Governor Fubara signed the agreement with the hope it would help bring peace, however, shortly after signing, Wike’s loyalists were the first to violate the terms.
In Jerry’s words: “Have you asked why Peter Odili who was the one reading the whole statement had to be the one who walked out and didn’t sign that thing that he read to people. It was an intimidation and Fubara said okay, fine. If it is this that will lead to peace fine. And who was the first to violate that agreement? Why didn’t the president call them to order”
