Following the just concluded conflict between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the administration of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, Trita Parsi, a prominent American political analyst, revealed that Iran successfully managed to parry an Israeli offensive not just with missiles, but with a shrewd international campaign that rallied crucial global support, and reshaped regional dynamics.
According to a report by the Iran News Agency on Saturday, 30 August, 2025, the Executive Vice President of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, Trita Parsi, detailed how Iran’s diplomatic apparatus sprang into action immediately after Israel’s recent unprecedented strikes on Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, which reportedly killed senior military figures and nuclear scientists, highlighting that despite being under fire, Iranian officials engaged in a whirlwind of activity, including the Foreign Minister’s overland journey to Turkey for critical talks and participation in high-level meetings with the European E3, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
He also emphasized that a key diplomatic victory was Iran’s success in securing a statement of support from the BRICS group.
In his words, Trita Parsi said “Once the war started, however, it needed to rally international support to its side, and to a certain extent, this was successful, particularly after the BRICS issued a statement in support of Iran (after India had first blocked such a statement). Diplomacy also played a role in ending the war after 12 days. But ultimately, it was secondary to Iran’s military capabilities. Had it not been for Iran’s missiles – the only element of Iran’s deterrence that proved useful – Israel would not have been deterred, regardless of Iran’s diplomatic efforts.”
Regarding the stance of the American Government over the nuclear ambition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Trita Parsi suggested that the approach of the administration of the former President of the United States of America, Joe Biden remained mired in complexity, revealing that Trump’s administration deliberately stalemated talks and pushed the region toward military escalation.
