According to Punch newspaper,a politician, Oluwatosin Onamade, was brutally murdered in Ikorodu, Lagos State, by gunmen who shot and attacked him with machetes in the Ijede area.

Oluwatosin Onamade was a chairmanship aspirant for the Ijede Local Council Development Area under the All Progressives Congress.

When contacted,Olufemi Onamade, the victim’s brother, revealed that his elder brother was actually trailed by the assailants before they eventually killed him.

He recounted that on Saturday night, the assailants, dressed in black outfits with no one seeing their faces, carried out the attack.

Femi, who had previously survived a similar attack with his brother, revealed that the gunmen used a machete on the deceased after the bullets they fired did not penetrate his body.

The incident occurred around 9 pm on Saturday.

Two gunmen, clad in black outfits, carried out the attack. His aide fled after hearing gunshots.

They shot and macheted Oluwatosin in front of his house, located on Oluwatosin Onamade Street in Ijede, a street named after him.

It was learnt that he gunmen shot him, and when the bullets didn’t have an immediate effect, they resorted to slashing his head and face with machetes.

Sadly,Femi suspected his brother’s death is connected to his political position, believing that the killers targeted him because he had a strong lead and a large following.

He explained that an attack had been made on his brother in 2021, which he survived.

“An attack had been made in 2021 and some of the culprits are still in prison but judgment has not been made yet”,he recounted.

Flashing back on a similar occurrence,Oluwatosin Onamade shared a harrowing experience in a 2021 interview, recounting how he narrowly escaped an attack by alleged political assassins.

Tragically, one of his staff members wasn’t so fortunate and lost their life in the incident, which occurred on April 16, 2021.

Neither the state nor council chapters of the APC have released an official statement regarding the incident.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the police are investigating the incident, which they are aware of.

Hundeyin stated via text message that an investigation into the incident has begun.
