In a recent interview on Voice of the People TV from 33:27, Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi addressed comments by President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security challenges and his outspoken advocacy on banditry, terrorism, and Boko Haram activities. He stressed that foreign political pressure will not deter him from speaking on issues affecting Nigerians.

According to him, “I Don’t Think Trump Can Silence Me; He Can Only Deny Me A Visa Or Make Me Return To My Country.” He explained that his focus remains on confronting the threats posed by terrorists, bandits, and extremist groups, and that he will continue to speak independently in defense of affected communities.

Gumi emphasized that both Christians and Muslims have suffered from attacks and that framing the violence as targeting a single religious group oversimplifies Nigeria’s complex security situation. He argued that meaningful solutions must combine strategic military actions with social and economic interventions, rather than relying on foreign influence.

He further highlighted that while international leaders may express opinions, the responsibility for protecting Nigerian lives rests primarily with domestic authorities. Gumi urged the government to strengthen local security forces, engage communities, and implement programs addressing the root causes of extremism, such as poverty, marginalization, and lack of education.

The scholar concluded by reaffirming his commitment to national peace and security. He insisted that threats, visa restrictions, or diplomatic pressures cannot silence his advocacy, which he considers crucial to protecting citizens and fostering long-term stability across Nigeria’s regions affected by terrorism and banditry.
