Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has stated that he disagrees with Pope Leo XIV’s claim that Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria.

In an interview with Voice of The People TV  from 0:21, Gumi said Pope Leo’s testimony cannot be relied upon because he is a Christian. He said he believes Pope Leo was speaking from a place of sentiment

Gumi said many of Nigeria’s highest military officers are Christians. He stated that he does not believe these officers would assist in killing their fellow Christians

In Gumi’s words: “I will say because he is already a Christian his testimony cannot be taken. And one proof that there is no genocide in Nigeria is that you people in the studio there are comfortably asking me and questioning me about what is happening in Nigeria. So nobody is killing Nigerians and most of the high-ranking officers in the armed forces are Christians. I wouldn’t think they would be assisting in killing fellow Christians. So he can say that from sentiments and other things”. View, More,
