Kanayo Esinolu, a former Aide to Emeka Ojukwu during the Biafra war, has stated that his father had large sums of money deposited in the African Continental Bank (ACB) on Milverton Avenue in Aba before the war began. He said after the war ended, his father was stripped of his wealth and given only 20 pounds by General Gowon’s government

In an interview with Edmund Obilo, Esinolu said the reason given was that his father had withdrawn money from his account during the war. He questioned this decision, asking how his father could have fed his family without withdrawing money from his account during the war
