Samuel Nwanosike Obari, the chairman of Ikwerre local government, has expressed frustration over the political crisis in Rivers State. He stated that the conflict could have been avoided if Governor Fubara had obeyed a court judgment made by Justice Omotoso on January 24, 2024. He said Fubara had more than 90 days to announce and conduct local government elections when the court judgment was made.

In a video shared by TVC from 47:15, Obari alleged that governors select people who become local government chairmen and if Governor Fubara had followed the court ruling, he could have organized the elections in a way that suited his goals without causing conflict.

In Obari’s words: “Governors sit down in government house and write list of elected chairmen, so Fubara could have as well gotten what he wanted without creating this crisis. He could have done the election anyhow he wants it”…..Sée Móre
