In a heartwarming account that has since captured national attention, Oluwatosin Adejumo, a puff-puff seller in Osun State, has narrated how her life took a dramatic turn following a chance encounter with Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking during an interview on AIT Live News, Adejumo described how a seemingly ordinary day at her roadside stall turned into a life-changing experience when the governor, fondly called Imole (meaning “light” in Yoruba), stopped to buy puff-puff.

“The governor cited me and called me. So he asked me how much was my puff-puff and I told him, and he gave me money. After that, he asked me to come inside,” Adejumo recalled with visible emotion.

According to her, Governor Adeleke did not stop at purchasing from her. He went further by handing her N50,000 on the spot as support for her small business.

The biggest surprise, however, came when he offered her employment as a chef in the Government House a gesture Adejumo described as nothing short of divine intervention.

“I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it. From selling by the roadside to being given such an opportunity, it was God’s way of answering my prayers. I am grateful to Governor Adeleke for changing my story,” she said.

The story has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians commending the governor for his simplicity, compassion, and willingness to connect with ordinary citizens.

Videos of the encounter have been shared widely online, attracting praise from residents who see Adeleke’s action as proof of his oft-repeated mantra of “governance with humanity.”

Supporters argue that the gesture demonstrates leadership that is not only people-centered but also responsive to the struggles of everyday Nigerians.

Several commentators noted that the governor’s action reinforces the idea that political leaders should be close to the grassroots, not just during election campaigns but throughout their tenure.

“This is the kind of leadership Nigeria needs,” wrote one Facebook user. “A governor who notices a puff-puff seller and changes her life with a single act of kindness. This is Imole indeed.”

Others, however, urged the government to go beyond symbolic gestures and address systemic issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and the rising cost of living.

According to some analysts, while Adejumo’s story is inspiring, it also highlights the struggles of countless Nigerians who remain trapped in poverty and economic hardship.

Still, for Adejumo, the gesture represents a new chapter. She emphasized that the opportunity offered by Governor Adeleke was not just about a job but about dignity and hope for the future.

“It means I can now take care of myself and support my family. It is more than I ever expected,” she said.
