The Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State, Dan Nwomeh, has reacted after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu removed Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and replaced him with Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.

Reacting through his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Nwomeh expressed mixed feelings about the development, noting that while it was painful to see an illustrious son of Enugu State leave office, it was heartwarming that another indigene of Enugu has been appointed in his place.

In his words:

“Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla honourably bows out, and Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke steps in. Enugu out, Enugu in. Ogalla, an exceptionally brilliant naval officer, served Nigeria with distinction and made Enugu immensely proud. We shall truly miss the amiable Admiral.”

Nwomeh further stated that he personally felt saddened that the career of such a respected and dedicated officer ended so abruptly. However, he acknowledged that this is part of the realities of military service, where officers must always be prepared for changes in command.

“Such is the nature of military service — ‘be prepared’ is the mantra. And like the seasoned general he is, he will take it with calm resolve,” he added. View, More,
