Political analyst Dr. Dayo Kayode discussed the intricate relationships within Nigeria’s opposition landscape during an interview on Voice of the People TV, pointing to multiple factors that complicate potential political realignments.
Dr. Kayode emphasized the existing political commitments of key figures, stating, “Don’t forget that Peter Obi has been one of the pillars of the coalition of opposition parties that moved into ADC.”
The analyst also referenced previous statements regarding conditions for political party switches. “Don’t forget that along the line, GEJ said if anybody wants him to come to PDP, they should also go and appeal to Atiku to come to PDP. Are you also aware of that?” he noted during the television appearance.
Regarding potential collaborations, Dr. Kayode maintained a measured perspective. “So you see, for them coming together, to me it’s not a big deal. Life goes on,” he remarked.
However, the political commentator highlighted additional complications within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) itself. “Because even if you are saying the two of them are talking about coming to PDP to move this thing forward and all that, have you also forgotten that Seyi Makinde is also jostling to become the next president of the country through PDP, so these are issues,” Dr. Kayode explained.
The analyst’s comments underscore the complex web of ambitions and allegiances that characterize Nigeria’s current political environment as various figures position themselves for future electoral contests.
