According to Al Jazeera, The Gaza war has dragged on for nearly two years, leaving Palestinians in Gaza City in deep despair as they endure ongoing suffering and destruction.

Unlike the recent 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran that ended with a ceasefire, the war in Gaza has shown no signs of resolution, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence.

Um Zidan, a displaced woman from northern Gaza, described her plight: “I live in a tent, and now, my tent is gone too, and we’re living in suffering here. The war between Israel and Iran ended in less than two weeks, and we’ve been dying for two years.”

Her words reflect the harsh reality faced by thousands of Palestinians who have lost their homes and loved ones amid the relentless conflict.

Mazen al-Jomla, another displaced resident from the Shati camp, expressed his frustration over the prolonged war.

“We have been suffering for two years – from horrors, destruction, martyrs and injured people,” he said.

“What do they [Israel] have left here? There are no houses, trees, or rocks, or humans left. Everything was destroyed.”

The Gaza war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, triggering a fierce military response.

Since then, the conflict has resulted in over 50,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 1,700 Israeli fatalities, with widespread devastation across Gaza.

Multiple ceasefires have failed to bring lasting peace, and the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen as infrastructure and homes are destroyed and basic services cut off.
