According to The Sun News of today, July 23, 2025, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is surrounded by flatterers who are giving him a false picture of the party and the nation’s situation.
Speaking on Tuesday as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Garba said the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as APC National Chairman has left the party vulnerable to attacks from what he described as an opposition “vultures’ coalition”.
He stressed the need for the ruling party to unite in order to withstand these attacks.
Garba noted, “They (the opposition coalition) are banking on our weakness, which is why we must get serious.
“That is why it’s important we are honest with ourselves and ensure that the party’s leadership is in the hands of someone who is sincere, open to constructive criticism, and able to face reality without being misled by flattery or sycophancy. I believe there are too many sycophants around the president, telling him things are fine—when in fact, they are not.”
He urged the APC to intensify efforts to halt the steady loss of its members in northern Nigeria, which he attributed to the exit of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
