According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Buba Galadima, Member of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has criticised the Federal Government for failing to prioritise national security, saying the growing wave of attacks and kidnappings shows that leaders are neglecting their constitutional duty to safeguard Nigerians.

He said the rising violence, especially mass abductions in different northern states, reflects a system where those in authority devote most of their energy to political struggles instead of addressing urgent threats to public safety.

Galadima, who spoke during a television interview on Monday, said the persistent insecurity demonstrates a pattern of leadership that is disconnected from the realities faced by citizens.

He noted that incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and deadly attacks have increased because officials responsible for security have not shown the seriousness expected from people holding such positions.

According to him, the country is experiencing a decline in safety because those in charge are not confronting the problem with the commitment it demands.

He described the recent abductions in Niger State as one of the clearest proofs that the security structure has weakened.

Galadima stressed that communities in the North now live in fear due to repeated attacks that are rarely prevented and often poorly handled.

He explained that the continuous spread of criminal activities in rural and urban areas indicates a collapse in intelligence gathering and operational response, leaving citizens vulnerable and hopeless.

Galadima also expressed concern over what he considered a widening gap between government officials and the everyday experiences of Nigerians.

He argued that those leading security agencies and political institutions appear more focused on political campaigns, internal party battles, and personal ambitions rather than addressing the insecurity confronting the nation.

He said this approach has allowed criminal groups to expand their operations while communities suffer the consequences.

He recounted watching a video in which a senior militant reportedly described the level of surveillance capability available to insurgent groups in the region.

Galadima said the account suggested that these groups possess detailed knowledge of strategic locations and movements within areas like Sambisa, raising further questions about how they continue to operate without strong resistance from authorities.

He said such revelations show the seriousness of the threat and the urgency for government to reexamine its strategy.

Galadima maintained that the government cannot continue to downplay the severity of the situation.

He said insecurity now affects nearly all aspects of life, including school attendance, farming activities, transportation, and local trade.

He urged officials to redirect their attention toward restoring public confidence through visible and effective actions.

He concluded by insisting that the Federal Government must renew its focus on protecting lives and property, stressing that this remains its most important constitutional duty.
