Following the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri has called on Nigerians to appreciate the former Lagos State governor for making such announcement with bravery.
Minister Heineken Lokpobiri who made such statement during an interview with Channels TV few hours ago, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was misunderstood when he said that subsidy is gone, because former president, Muhammadu Buhari’s government did not make any provision for subsidy in the 2023 project, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu only made it clear to Nigerians that it has already been removed.
In his own words, Heineken Lokpobiri mentioned that;
“The President was misunderstood when he said subsidy is gone. Buhari’s government did not make any provision for subsidy in the 2023 budget. But whether anybody said it or not, subsidy was gone. The president in his characteristic style of speaking truth was saying that in the last 2023 budget, there was no provision for subsidy, so subsidy is gone”.
Heineken Lokpobiri then stated that Nigerians should thank president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for having the courage to say that fuel subsidy is gone, because Nigeria would have been like Venezuela if such subsidy was not removed.
“Let us thank the president for having the courage to say that. You and I know that Nigeria would have been like Venezuela if fuel subsidy was not removed,” he said….S££ MOR£
