In a recent interview with Channels Television, Solomon Bob shared his thoughts on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. He revealed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had agreed to an eight-point settlement plan during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in December 2023. However, after accepting all the terms and thanking the president, Fubara later changed his stance.

Bob explained that at the meeting, Fubara was asked about each point of the settlement, and he agreed to all of them. In the end, he made only one request—that none of his supporters should be victimized. The president assured him of this, and everything was signed off. However, after leaving the meeting, Fubara was allegedly influenced by others who told him he was giving away his power as governor.

According to Bob, governance requires continuous engagement with the people, especially with close allies. However, Fubara reportedly ignored those who should have been his strongest supporters, including members of the state assembly. Bob believes this isolation led to the current political crisis.

Solomon suggested that Fubara presented himself one way in public but acted differently behind closed doors. “This man cunned everyone, his character is different from what you guys are seeing,” he said. He accused the governor of deceiving people by agreeing to the peace deal and then going back on his word.
