According to a report by Daily Post, Air Peace has fired back at Senator Adams Oshiomhole, accusing him of fabricating claims about alleged extortion and misconduct by its staff at the Lagos airport.

The confrontation unfolded on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, where Oshiomhole reportedly disrupted operations after missing his flight to Abuja. In response to media reports and a video circulating online, Air Peace issued a statement describing the Senator’s account as false and damaging.

According to Oshiomhole, despite completing online check-in, he and other passengers were denied boarding while airline staff allegedly sold tickets at inflated prices to last-minute buyers. But Air Peace strongly refuted these claims, insisting no ticket was sold after the official check-in window closed.

“The Senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers,” the airline stated, directly quoting the line that inspired the headline. It challenged Oshiomhole to present any proof of extortion or misconduct by its employees, emphasizing that no overbooking occurred and the aircraft in question departed with over 30 empty seats.

Air Peace clarified that accommodating Oshiomhole and others who arrived late would have been financially beneficial, but the airline prioritizes punctuality and safety over profit. It further denied granting the Senator any special treatment or that he was standing up for other passengers, as he claimed.

The airline’s statement also alleged that Oshiomhole’s behavior disrupted operations. He was said to have climbed onto a baggage conveyor belt, obstructed the check-in process, and blocked the terminal entrance—all while inciting other passengers against the airline.

Air Peace called on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release CCTV footage of the incident to validate its version of events. It described Oshiomhole’s actions as “violent, unbecoming, unfortunate and above all, shameful.”

The airline insists it operates with integrity and transparency, rejecting what it sees as an attempt to damage its reputation with unfounded allegations.

With this public clash, the matter may now draw regulatory attention, especially with calls for FAAN to release surveillance evidence. The dispute has sparked widespread conversation on airline policies, passenger conduct, and accountability at Nigerian airports.
