According to a recent interview from 2:26 shared by Arise News, Deputy Editor and Head of Politics at The Sun newspaper, Ismail Omipidan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has achieved an unprecedented level of cohesion despite losing power in the past election. Omipidan emphasized the party’s resilience and ability to remain united in the face of challenges.
“This is the first time in the history of Osun that a party will lose power and still remain intact three years after losing power,” he said, highlighting the APC’s unique position in the state’s political landscape. Omipidan noted that previous ruling parties in Osun, after losing elections, experienced significant fragmentation and defections to opposition parties, but the APC has successfully avoided such a fate.
He attributed the party’s stability to deliberate efforts by party leaders and stakeholders who prioritized cohesion and collective responsibility over personal ambition. Omipidan also clarified misconceptions surrounding former Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s role in party activities, stressing that Oyetola has consistently worked towards unity without directly influencing internal party processes.
According to Omipidan, the APC’s focus on maintaining structure, discipline, and collaboration among members has allowed it to attract new members even after losing elections, setting it apart from other parties in Osun. This sustained unity is now seen as a strategic advantage ahead of forthcoming elections, positioning the APC as a formidable contender in the state’s political contests. View, More,
