According to ChannelsTV, The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) is calling on the Federal Government to focus on lowering the high costs of education rather than providing loans to students.

Henry Okuomo, the Senate President of NANS, made this statement on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

He explained that reducing education costs would benefit students more than loans, which many may struggle to repay due to the high unemployment rate in Nigeria.

Okuomo suggested that instead of loans, the government should work to lower school fees in higher education.

He proposed that the fees charged by tertiary institutions should be reduced to between N20,000 and N50,000.
