Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has spoken about funds the Federal Government (FG) distributed to states recently.

In a video shared by Channels TV from 20:53, Falana said that last week, the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) distributed about 1.3 trillion naira, the largest amount given in the last one year, to the three levels of government. He said additionally, the federal government gave 438 billion naira to 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), excluding Kaduna and Anambra. He said Anambra and Kaduna did not receive this money because they had not submitted required reports.

Falana emphasized the importance of ensuring that this significant amount of money is used effectively. He suggested that citizens should hold their governors accountable for how these funds are spent.

In Falana’s words: “Just last week the FAAC shared about 1.3 trillion to three tiers of government, that is the highest in the last one year. In addition to that, the Federal Government disbursed to 34 states and the FCT (Anambra and Kaduna were not involved because according to the federal government, they hadn’t submitted certain reports) 438 billion naira. It was given to the states as part of the loan taken during the COVID 19 pandemic. So the money is now being used to address poverty in the country and so we must also engage our governors”….Sêe_Morē
