Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), shared his experience with the legal system.
In a video recently shared by News Central TV from 9:54, Sowore said he was once charged with treason and the authorities failed to present evidence against him for five years. He said during this period, he was restricted from leaving Abuja.
According to Sowore’s account, a judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, granted him bail but set the conditions so high that he could not meet them. One of these conditions included a N100 million bond. During a later court session, Justice Ojukwu questioned why Sowore couldn’t afford the bond, to which his lawyer, Femi Falana, responded by stating that Sowore was not involved in any crimes or corruption, so there was no way for him to come up with that large amount of money.
In Sowore’s words: “Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu said you mean Sowore doesn’t have N100m to deposit as a bond in this case. Femi Falana said Sowore is not a thief, where will he get N100m to put in the bank account of the court when he hasn’t committed any crime?”….S££ _ MOR£
