During an interview with Arise Television, Biodun Ajiboye, Executive Secretary and CEO of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, took a firm stance against recent criticisms made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Ajiboye dismissed El-Rufai’s remarks as the product of personal frustration rather than objective political commentary, accusing him of engaging in a self-serving narrative.

Ajiboye argued that El-Rufai’s recent statements were not grounded in national interest but rather rooted in his own emotional grievances and political disappointments. He described El-Rufai as someone who thrives on sensationalism and misleading rhetoric, suggesting that his outbursts were fuelled by a deeper sense of irrelevance in the current political space.

According to him, “This guy called El-Rufai, he knows; he’s just playing to the gallery. Everything El-Rufai has come to say on Monday, he’s saying them out of bitterness and frustration. See, have you seen what Obasanjo said about El-Rufai? He said El-Rufai does not understand the meaning of loyalty. He’s only loyal to himself. He’s a pathological liar; he said so, not me. He said he embellishes lies and half-truths.”

Referencing former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s past remarks, Ajiboye reinforced his view that El-Rufai’s political character has long been under scrutiny. He cited Obasanjo’s accusations of disloyalty and dishonesty as evidence that the former governor’s credibility was questionable, even in the eyes of those who once worked closely with him.
