Mrs. Khairat Bello, daughter of the late prominent Islamic scholar Alhaji Muyideen Bello, recalled treasured memories of her father in an interview with The Punch, describing him as a bold preacher, a committed family man, and someone whose entire life was anchored in truth and service.
She said his humility, discipline, compassion, and wisdom continue to guide the family even after his death.
She recounted, for instance, a period when he secured a contract to provide toast bread each morning for the staff of a particular company. According to her, this was at a time when toasted bread was not yet common.
She explained that the family would buy the bread, toast it themselves, and prepare the delivery, and that her father would join them in the work despite his busy schedule, simply to ensure everything was done on time.
When she was asked about his final moments, she recalled that he showed no indication that his life was nearing its end. She said he deliberately avoided giving the kind of signs elderly people often display when they begin distributing their property.
Despite his age, he still viewed himself as having much to accomplish, driven by abundant energy. Even while confined to his sickbed, she noted, his thoughts remained focused on the years ahead, reflecting his deep passion and dedication to his work.
She said, “Even till his last moment, he didn’t show any sign that he was going to die. He didn’t want to give the kind of signs that elderly people give when they start declaring their property to their families.” View, More,
