In a resolute message shared on his verified Twitter account, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed optimism about the eventual retreat of foreign powers, particularly the United States, from the West Asia region. Labeling the U.S. as “greedy” and “crìminal,” Khamenei stated that such adversaries would have no option but to relinquish their grip on the region’s nations and people.
“God willing, the enemies and transgressors, the head of which is the greedy, crìminal US, will have no choice but to take their hands off the people and nations of West Asia, and they will withdraw from this region in humiliation,” the statement read.
Khamenei’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the U.S., following years of political and military confrontations. The leader’s assertion underscores his longstanding criticism of U.S. interventionist policies in the Middle East, often portrayed by Tehran as efforts to dominate the region’s resources and politics.
The Supreme Leader’s statement reflects a broader narrative within Iran’s political discourse, which frames the U.S. as a destabilizing force in the region. Analysts suggest that Khamenei’s words aim to rally domestic and regional support against perceived foreign aggression, particularly in light of recent developments, including U.S. military deployments and sanctions targeting Iran.
