Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has cautioned against the evolving nature of warfare, emphasizing the significance of “soft warfare” as a key tactic used by adversaries.
In a statement shared on his verified Twitter account, Khamenei remarked, “Enemies of peoples who covet the goods of countries do not attack only with firearms; they also attack with soft warfare. One part of soft warfare is creating psychological insecurity.”
The Supreme Leader’s remarks highlight his growing concerns over non-conventional forms of aggression aimed at undermining nations’ sovereignty and stability. According to Khamenei, soft warfare includes psychological operations designed to instill insecurity and distrust among populations, eroding their confidence in governance and national institutions.
Khamenei’s statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region and increasing foreign interventions in the political and economic affairs of Middle Eastern nations. The Supreme Leader has consistently criticized what he perceives as Western efforts to destabilize nations through propaganda, misinformation, and economic coercion.
Analysts note that Khamenei’s focus on “psychological insecurity” underscores the role of information manipulation in modern conflicts. Such tactics are aimed at dividing societies, influencing public opinion, and weakening resistance to foreign domination.
Iranian officials have frequently accused Western powers, particularly the United States, of employing such strategies to destabilize governments and exploit resources in the region. Khamenei’s message appears to be a call for vigilance among the Iranian populace and allied nations to resist these forms of indirect aggression.
